Little Gym Halloween Party

I am so behind on the blog that it is overwhelming to catch up.  I don't want to not capture our every day moments though, so I figured I would start with the current stuff and gradually fill in the gaps with older posts.  I have all of our pics saved on the computer, so its just a matter of slowly organizing everything and putting them into posts.  Slowly but surely...just keep swimming, right?

Anyways, last night we took Nate to a Halloween Party at the Little Gym.  He was so excited to go.  We told him about it the night before and the minute I entered the door after getting home from work, he immediately said "par-tay...Gym...Haween."  So sweet.

So, of course, we changed him into his Cookie Monster costume (seriously the cutest thing ever) and headed over for the fun.

Nate was his typical self--shy at first, but slowly opened up and started running around.  He had a blast and was thoroughly exhausted and ready for bed by the time we got home.  I was slightly worried about fitting the party in before bed time, but Nate did great and saved his typically 2 year old pre bedtime meltdown for just before he climbed into bed.  Not bad!

Swinging on the bars.

He loved the big slide they had set up.

Snack time, complete with "cheese" face.
Overall, we had a great time with our little boy and it was a fun memory for the record books!

Someone found Mommy's Lipstick!

What a goober! Nate was so mad at me when I took my fun "crayon" away...I wanted to salvage what I could!  This is definitely one of those "rights of passage" moments, and I am glad I was around to capture it. Cute little man!

First Haircut

Nate had his 'First Haircut' on February 11, 2012.  I resisted it for a while, but Michael thought he was getting a mullet and it was "time."  Nate did okay...he really disliked the whole experience and Dad had to hold him down pretty much the entire time, but the woman cutting it was able to get the job done.  It is amazing how a few snips of the scissors turned my little baby into a little boy!  Of course, I saved a few of the locks for his memory box!

Crazy, pre-cut hair.

GB offering some distraction.

This pic cracks me up--he's totally like "mom, get me!"

Handsome boy all done!

He's too cute with his new 'do.  And, I love that he wants to walk around in my slippers.  Goofy kid!

18/19 months!

Nate is actually 19.5 months now, but oh well; better late than never.  I just had to do an update post to capture where things stand with our little boy.  He is so much more of a boy now than a baby, and this age is a lot of fun.  A ton of work, but fun, nonetheless!
  • At his 18 month checkup, Nate weighed 23 lbs 9 oz (20%), was 33 inches tall (60%) and still has a little nugget noggin'.
  • He goes to bed at 7pm and gets up anywhere between 5:30am - 6:30am (definitely a morning person!).  We'll bring him in bed with us while he drinks his milk.  He may wake up once in the middle of the night for more water, but it is a very quick wake-up.
  • His vocabulary is really taken off.  Here are the words I know he can say (but, he is now repeating words we say so things are growing exponentially): mama, dada, nana, papa, A-Bo (Abuelo), ball, Mol (Molly), Clar (Clare), stick, bowl, buhl (balloon), dah (that), dir (dirty), apple, uh-oh, duck, dog, hi, thank you, bye bye, cracker, exit, shoes, dar is (there it is), har go (here you go), trash, Ames (Amy), airpan (airplane), ca-kee (coffee), no nuh (donut).
  • He is picking up signs at a really quick rate as well.  He loves these Signing Time videos Amy rents from the library and we watch one at least once a day.  Signs he has down so far: more, please, night-night, milk, all done, eat, ball, dog, flower, baby, water, thank you, train, mom, dad, stop, want.  I cannot tell you how amazing it is to have him sign what he needs.  I truly think this has cut down on a ton of temper tantrums!
  • Nate loves making animal noises.  We will ask him, what does a cow say? And he will answer correctly.  The animals in our rotation: monkey, sheep, elephant, cow, lion, dog, cat.
  • He can make a tractor sound that is hilariously cute.  He will point to the sky every time he hears an airplane go by.
  • He loves to blow raspberries on you when you aren't looking.
  • He is obsessed with trash cans. He points them out where ever we go and loves throwing things away.  This is quite helpful, actually!
  • He loves to wrestle and will jump all over you if given the chance.
  • He has started singing a little.  Row Row Row Your Boat and Twinkle Twinkle get him humming along.
  • He has started jumping around and loves to do his "happy feet" and dance all over.
  • He has started asking to watch "ga ga," or Yo Gabba Gabba.
  • He loves playing with the ipad.
  • He will hand you your phone, but only after pretending to say hello!
  • He loves getting into mom and dad's shoes and walking around.
  • He loves to give hugs and kisses.  He blows kisses when saying goodbye and waving.
  • He gives each dog a kiss goodnight before bedtime.  Molly is his favorite though.
  • He claps after hearing a song he likes.
  • He loves his bunny and bear.
  • He does this surprised face and holds his hands up and goes "oh".  Kills me!  So sweet.
He is just the best and we are quite smitten with our little man.  Love him to the moon and back.

And no update post is complete with pictures! Here are a few recent ones of our little model:

Christmas Day 2011

Christmas Day was so fun.  Nate woke up bright and early and we all headed into the living room to see what Santa had brought.

The set up from Santa!

Nate's big gift from Santa--a ball pit!  He quickly dove right in!

Checking out the other gifts from Santa in his personalized santa bag.

Helping Daddy open his stocking.

Reading his new books, while holding Dad's new brush.

Dad had to get in on the ball pit action.

Silly boys!

After we opened presents, we got cleaned up and loaded up the car and headed to my parents house in Denton.  My sister and her fiance Mike came over a little later in the morning, and we all opened presents.

Being silly with Abuelo!

Kimmel had fun playing with the wrapping paper.

One of Nate's favorite gifts...dinosaur sippy!

I made Mandy several different cutesy craft things -- she's showing off the coasters I made for her.  Thanks Pinterest!

Helping Daddy.  It took him a bit to figure it out, but Nate eventually got the hang of opening presents.

New belt and house shoes for Abuelo.

New shoes for GB.

Kitchen stuff for Mike.

After presents at my parent's house, we headed over to Michael's parent's place for more presents followed by Christmas dinner (everyone came over to the Lloyds for dinner).  The last couple of years we've done a low key Christmas dinner, which is so nice.  After a busy day, its nice to sit down to some comfort food.

Playing with his train from Nana and Grandpa.

Getting into the musical instruments he received.

And Christmas wouldn't be complete without family pics!  After pics, we headed back home and all crashed.  Another great Christmas in the books!
