Rebel Yells and Anniversary Tales

Last Saturday we "celebrated" our 6th anniversary.  It's hard to believe 6 years have gone by already!  Given its such a random anniversary and coupled with the facts that 1) we've been together nearly 14 years so celebrating 6 years of marriage falls into that "just another year category" and 2) are completely distracted by all things baby, we really didn't plan on doing much to celebrate.  Michael had to work the night shift Saturday night, and my baby shower was earlier that day, so we decided to forego any big celebration.

Instead, we went and got bagels together at Einsteins Saturday morning, and then went to Best Buy to purchase our anniversary gift to each other:

Canon Rebel EOS T1
We've officially graduated from a point and shoot camera to the SLR.  This camera will be perfect for capturing every minute of the baby's life.  See, it really is about all things baby.  I just need to figure out how to use the fancy thing!  I think for the first time I will actually read the manual that comes with the camera!

So, while it was a relatively uneventful celebration and nothing too romantic with the lack of candles, flowers and white table clothes, it was a great day.  I'm thankful I married my best friend and can't wait to many more years together!

32-33 Weeks

Total Weight Gained/Loss?  About 31ish pounds.  Officially weigh more than Hubs, even on his "fatty days."  Awesome.  I've never been so looking forward to working out in my life!

Maternity Clothes? Duh.  It is either that or I would be nude.

Sleep? About the same.  Getting good sleep and lots of snuggles from the pups (they love the Snoogle too!).  My hip has been hurting me thanks to hormones and a pelvis that is getting wider, so that makes getting comfortable a bit difficult, but I'm managing fine.  Luckily the hip has been feeling better lately.

Best Moment of the Week? We had an ultrasound on July 21st.  Kiddo was very cute, yawning a lot and sucking on its fingers.  It was also practicing its breathing and moving around a lot.  Estimated weight was 4 lbs 13 oz!  I also had a baby shower at the end of this week on July 24th, which was great.  Baby Lloyd got a lot of great gifts!!  I'll do a full post on that later.

Movement? Baby is moving a lot and is very active, even though its cramped quarters in there.  Love it!

Food Craving? Coca Cola, Sweets, watermelon & other fruit

Food Aversions? Nope.

Gender? XY or XX

Belly Button? Has turned into a bit of an outie, but is mostly flat.

What I miss? Heels, my old clothes, not feeling like a cow.

What I'm looking forward to? Maternity pictures this coming weekend.

Milestones: Seeing how big Baby Lloyd is--the countdown is on!!  About 7 weeks to go, and 4 weeks until I'm considered Term!!

Baby Moon - Part 3

After a great night in Big Sur/Carmel, Michael and I woke up early, although it felt like we'd slept in given the time change.  We had breakfast at the house and then around 10 am, headed to Pebble Beach for the Tuesday, June 15th Practice Round of the US Open.

Immediately after arriving and heading to the first hole, we ran into Phil Mickelson and his party.  We followed Phil and his crew around for the next 4 holes or so.

After following Phil, we grabbed a snack and continued walking around the course.  The next "big" golfer we saw was Vijay Singh.

We also saw Sergio Garcia and Ian Poulter.  Ian was sporting his classic flashy pants.

We ate some lunch on the course and walked pretty much the entire thing.  At 7 months pregnant, I was one tired lady at the end of the day (we left around 2 pm).  Michael had a blast though and checked this off his Bucket List, although now he actually wants to play the course!  The views were breathtaking, even though it was cloudy and a bit chilly!

Vijay on a beautiful hole next to the ocean.

View of the 18th Green.

After leaving the course, we headed back to Carmel and rested up a bit.  We left around 6 pm, and drove back to San Francisco.  My poor cracked riblet was killing me on the drive back, so we stopped and got a heating pad.  That, combined with just sitting still in the car, really helped it feel better.  We flew home on the red-eye, arriving in Dallas about 5:30 am.  All in all it was a once in a lifetime trip and we were so glad we went.  We really enjoyed our time together and our last trip as a family of 2!

The Oh So Sexy Part of Pregnancy and Birth Prep

I realized this weekend I needed to update my lingerie drawer with some post-pregnancy / birth essentials.  Hubs was slighly excited when he asked what I was doing on the computer and I told him I was buying post-birth lingerie essentials, but that quickly faded when he saw what exactly I was buying online.  Here are some of my recent purchases:

Nursing tanks

Granny panties--apparently a must according to my mommy friends

Nipple Cream

Nursing Pads

I mean, talk about sexy!  If this doesn't set the mood, I don't know what will.  :) Add this to the list of things boys will never have to worry about!!  :)  I have to admit, all of these new "products" are making me a bit nervous--mommyhood is a strange new thing!

Baby Moon - Part 2

After leaving San Francisco, we drove down Highway 1 to Carmel.

Coastal scenes from the drive.

We found a cute old lighthouse along the way and stopped to take some pics.

(This is the location where I officially cracked my rib.  Ow!)

After driving for about 4 hours with several stops along the way, we arrived at the beach house that had been rented by the company hosting us in Carmel Highlands.

The house was phenomenal!

Living room, with views of the Pacific.

Our room overlooking the ocean.  We were the only guests, other than our host, staying there that night!

Our bathroom.

View from the deck.

View from our room--gorgeous!

After settling in, the hosting group took us to dinner at Sierra Mar in Big Sur.

The restaurant was up a hill, nestled in the trees overlooking the ocean.  This is a pic of us with the mountains behind us facing the main building where the restaurant was located.  Dinner was an awesome 4 course meal.  Perfection!

30+ Weeks

So its been a while since I did a full preggo post...I figured I was due for one (pun intended!).

Total Weight Gained/Loss? Who knows anymore--somewhere between 25 and 30 lbs. I definitely weigh as much as Michael now.  I'm trying not to get down about the numbers on the scale (although its hard), and just concentrate on eating well and cooking as healthy wee thing.

Maternity Clothes? Of course!

Sleep? Getting a bit more difficult to get comfortable at night, but I'm getting good rest.   BL doesn't like it when I lay on my left side--it immediately starts elbowing me in my hip, which feels really weird--so I change positions a lot before going to sleep.  I'm getting up about once in the night to use the bathroom.

Best Moment of the Week? Had a good doctors appoint this week, and BL is still moving a lot.  I think it is trying to escape through my belly button or something!

Movement? BL is still a strong little thing. Its latest thing is to stretch its feet and arms outward, which can be uncomfortable for me.  Its feet are up at the top of my uterus, so it creates a weird sensation b/w my ribs when it does this.  The hands are by my belly button so I feel as if the kiddo is stretching out my stomach as well.

Food Craving? I still crave Coca-Cola, and we have a scoop of low-fat ice cream pretty much every night. I also still need to finish lunch and dinner with something sweet.  I'm also craving beer, which is totally ironic since I can't drink it right now!  I steal sips of Michael's every now and then though.

Food Aversions? Nope. Still like food; see the first question.

Gender? XY or XX

Belly Button? Still there, still flat and still a little tender.

What I miss? Beer--maybe I'll try some nonalcoholic brew if the cravings continue.

What I'm looking forward to? Finishing up BL's nursery to the extent we can--furniture may not get here before BL does, but there's not much I can do about that.  Come on backorder!!  Next ultrasound in a week and a half!

Milestones: Being in the single digits for number of weeks I have left--I'll be 31 weeks on Sunday!

Baby Moon - Part 1

A couple of months ago, a company that my firm (in particular, my section) hires to handle our noticing needs and serve as our claims agent in certain cases contacted a few attorneys that had worked on this big case with them last year.  They were hosting a small group at the 2010 US Open in Pebble Beach and wanted to invite us to join in on the fun.  Basically, everything except airfare would be covered.  At first, I wrote this off as a fun business development activity that we wouldn't be participating in.  Then, I thought twice about that--I wanted to take a Babymoon with hubs and this could be the perfect excuse.  After checking airfare and talking it over, we decided to go for it (when else would we have this opportunity!) and the trip out west was quickly finalized.

We flew into San Francisco on Sunday, June 13th, dropped off our bags at our hotel in the Embarcardero area, and ventured out to explore the city.

We walked down to the Ferry Building...

and hopped on this old-fashioned street car to head down to Fisherman's Wharf.

We stopped at Pier 39...

walked around where we could see Alcatraz...

and Golden Gate Bridge in the distance.

We hung out with the Sea Lions for a bit...

(this big guy reminded us of our huggable Winston)

and grabbed a clam chowder snack.  Yum!

We picked up a cable car at Ghirardelli Square...

and rode it through the city making our way back to our hotel.

After resting and cleaning up at the hotel...

we went to dinner at Boulevard--very cute bistro that was delish!

View of the Bay Bridge from Boulevard.

The next morning we walked to a bakery across the street for breakfast and took a long walk through the city before picking up our rental car.

We passed through Chinatown...

and ended in Union Square.

After a long wait at the rental car company...

we were off on our drive to Carmel.

(We tried to go to Muir Woods first, but it was so busy and crowded, we skipped it).

Next up: Carmel & the US Open!
