Rangers Game

I grabbed my firm's tickets and we took our friends Hal and Tiffany to a Rangers Game on June 4th.  The seats are awesome, right on top of the dug out and we had a great time.  I'm very thankful we have good friends who also have good jobs, giving me reason to take them out for business development activities!

Best seats in the house!

Rangers win!!

Shaving cream in the pitcher's face--job well done!

Remembering Cohen

This little guy's story touched my heart.  Keeping the Marshall family, whom I've never met, in my thoughts and prayers today.

28+ Weeks

Last week, Baby Lloyd and I had a 28 week ultrasound.  Everything looked great!  The sonographer said that BL had some chubby cheeks (good for kissin' on later), and long legs.  Totally our kid (for a shorty, I have long legs, just no torso!).  We are feeling very blessed and can't wait to meet him/her in just a few more weeks!!

Profile shot--you can see the head with nose, mouth, ears.  BL has its arm up by its face.

Another profile shot.

We have another ultrasound in 4 weeks to keep an eye on the ovarian cyst I have on my right side--fine by me!  I'll take every opportunity to see BL I can get. :)  FYI--I'll do a fully prego post later on.

Pregnancy Mishaps

I have really enjoyed being pregnant, but things are definitely starting to take a toll on my body.  I thought I'd share a few of my recent pregnancy-related woes (thankfully, nothing too serious).

-Cankles: I learned the other day after wearing some cute, modest heels (only 2.5 inches!) two days in a row that doing so will cause ginormous cankles--you know, where your calves merge into your ankles.  After work the second day, I got home and my feet and legs were so swollen I could barely put on my tennis shoes.  NOT a pretty site.  Luckily, the swelling went down after a couple of days.  Lesson learned--flats from now on.  That might just be the excuse I need to get a new pair of Tory Burch Reva's!

-Cracked Rib: So, I'm pretty sure I have a cracked rib.  I had a cold a bit a ago for a couple of weeks, and was doing a lot of coughing.  Since my uterus and baby are now sitting just below my rib cage, and my lungs have expanded due to the pregnancy, the force from coughing cracked my poor middle-ish riblet on my right side.  It hurt so bad the first few days.  Now its just an ache like a pulled muscle that hurts worse when I do certain things (i.e. breath deeply, try to find a comfy position to sleep in), but otherwise doesn't bother me.

-Belly hazards: The other day I went to my car after work and realized that the space I'd parked in was a bit tight.  I opened the driver's side door as far as it would go before hitting the car next to me, and went to squeeze in.  Apparently, Baby Lloyd wasn't having that--my belly wouldn't fit!  The passenger side wasn't any better.  So, I literally had to climb in from the back seat (luckily that door worked!) and manuever my way into the driver's seat.  Some old guy who was getting into his car across from me thought I was crazy.  So, now I have to pay attention to my belly and make sure there is room for it when parking, picking where to sit at a restaurant, etc.  Being prego is nuts!

-I'm becoming more of an idiot: Some days I feel like I'm losing my mind.  The other day I pulled out my camera to show pics from our recent babymoon (more on that later!) and accidentally erased all of the pics.  I never do things like that...seriously, never.  I was in such disbelief.  Luckily, my father in law is an IT guru and was able to recover the files.  I'm definitely off my game at times.  I guess its hard to concentrate when you've got two pounds of something squirming around in your belly. :)

That's all for now.  I have several posts to do to catch up on the whirlwind of things we've been doing the last couple of weeks, so more soon.

25+ Weeks

Total Weight Gained/Loss? 18ish lbs.  I almost weigh as much as my skinny husband, but I'm just going with it.

Maternity Clothes?  Yes...it's official.  Nothing non-maternity fits any longer.

Sleep? Still going well.  Getting up at least once in the night to use the bathroom.

Best Moment of the Week? BL's moving and shaking in my uterus.  We were out of town this past weekend and I think that threw both mom and baby off--BL was a little sluggish.  It was nice to get back into our routine and feel those strong, regular movements throughout the day again.

Movement? BL is a strong little thing.  You can now see the kicks and movements from the outside, although we can't tell body parts yet.  Crazy!

Food Craving? Still like Coca-Cola, and we have a scoop of low-fat ice cream pretty much every night.  I also need to finish lunch and dinner with something sweet...I guess that's a "craving."

Food Aversions? Nope.  I like food.

Gender? XY or XX

Belly Button? Still there, but getting flatter and flatter.  It's a bit tender too as it adjusts from all the growing.

What I miss? Being able to see all of my body parts.

What I'm looking forward to?  Doctor's appointment on Monday with the Glucose test.  I'm not really looking forward to the glucose part, but I am looking forward to hearing BL's heartbeat again.

Milestones: Viability!  Yay!

23 Weeks and Nursery Update

Since I'm going to hit 24 weeks on Sunday (tomorrow), I'll do a full preggo post sometime next week.  For now, here I am at 23 wks.

So, we've been slowly working on Baby Lloyd's room in our spare time.  I'm really not in to pastel greens and yellows, so I knew I'd have to find a better decorating option if we were really going to go through with not finding out Baby Lloyd's gender or I would break down and find out just to paint the walls a shade of pink or blue, colors I do like.  Pottery Barn catalogs to the rescue!  Seriously, they are a great source of ideas.  Ultimately, we settled on painting the walls chocolate brown.  I ordered the 'Chocolate' paint from Serena and Lily and loved the way the color turned out.

Hubs painting away--he actually likes painting!
Painting almost complete, and the office almost cleaned out (it has taken forever!).

We recently had crown moulding installed in the house (something we've wanted to do since we moved in 3 years ago--babies have a way of getting your booty in gear!), and also had wainscoting installed in the baby room.  Baby Lloyd's room is looking good so far!

After wainscoting and crown moulding -- love it!

Closer view.

We also ordered our furniture this past weekend. It's basically all backordered until later this summer, but that's ok. I'm learning to be patient. :) Here are some pics of things to come (we ordered everything in the antique white color, as pictured):

Crib--this is the pic that pretty much inspired the room idea.

Everything is looking good so far, and I'm excited to see it come together over the next couple of months!

Belated Post - Mother's Day 2010

This post is a little late, but I wanted to share anyways!  I had a great Mother's Day last week.  Michael made me breakfast--french toast, an egg and bacon--and gave me a card.  Yummy!

My parents sent me some pretty flowers.  The first bunch arrived a bit banged up and none of the buds were open, so 1-800-Flowers sent another batch.  I think they both turned out beautiful though!

That afternoon, after lounging for a while and getting a few things done around the house, Michael took me to get a diaper bag!  Technically, its my birthday present.  I didn't really want anything this year, so I just asked for gift cards to go towards buying a chic diaper bag.  I hadn't had the chance to go pick it up yet, so Mother's Day seemed fitting to make that purchase.  :)
If you're curious, its the Tory Burch Cire Baby Bag.

I absolutely love it--its functional, yet sophisticated, and looks like a cute tote rather than a kiddo bag.

After shopping we went to Denton to have dinner with our families at a little Italian place out there.  It was pretty low key, but nice to be with our families.  It was weird being included in the "mothers" club, but exciting and fun at the same time.

My first Mother's Day cards

Hope you had a great Mother's Day as well!  Much love and appreciation to both my mom and Michael's mom!
